EUROPEAN ACADEMIC NETWORK

Background

In the 2023 EAPT General Annual Meeting (AGM), two members (Ireland and Portugal) were appointed to create the EAPT European Academic Network (EAPT-EAN) within the scope of EAPT, linking representatives of Academia related to the education and training of Pharmacy Technicians within the European Geographic Area.

Goals

From EAPT-EAN is expected

  • To undertake research related to the practice and education of pharmacy technicians;
  • To promote networking and cooperation among members and with the EAPT;
  • To enhance the collaboration on research and international projects that involve pharmacy technicians' research, education, training, and professional activities;
  • To cooperate in the development of curricula;
  • To promote the dissemination of standards for education and training (graduation and CPD);
  • To develop web-based courses on professional and healthcare-related topics within the scope of EAPT.

Operationalisation

The first online meeting, held in September 2023, established the basis of this Academic Network. This network followed the work and approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) and Internal Rules (IR) in May 2024. Based on the ToR and IR, the EAPT-EAN was presented and approved by the AGM of EAPT (Oslo, 2024).
The work within this network was continued in different online meetings and led to the creation of various partnerships, among the members, that applied to the ERASMUS+ Call 2024 Round 1 KA2 with three projects and another one to the ERASMUS+ Call 2024 Round 2 KA2, both for Small-scale Partnerships.

Management Team

The Management Team is elected from among the members of EAPT-EAN and has four positions: Coordinator, Co-coordinator, Secretary, and Finance Deputy Secretary.
The Management Team will assume the agenda and the calls for meetings, the driving of the meetings, the preparation of the minutes and the articulation with the EAPT Board of Directors.
